To test for an upper bound you must use synthetic division. If all signs (+ or -) are equal in the ending set of numbers then the given number is in fact a zero of that equation. And example is provided below.
The test for a lower bound is similar as that for the upper bound. However
when the equation is give you must replace the x terms with a negative (-x)
x term.
